Twin Lakes Camping Continued

Trying to get the hang of this blogger thing, want to post photos too, but having some difficulty, where is Sean when I need him!
As I was saying, we went geocaching Saturday afternoon along "Between the Lakes" trail. Found the cache, Garland & Emma show off the booty... All the geocache coordinates will be situated just off the trails. So they are not too hard to locate. On the way back to the camper, Emma & I decided to walk the "Dogwood Trail" while Garland headed back to get the fire going. I saw 2 white tail deer along that trail. The trail was not blazed well and I got off track a couple times.
Before dinner we watched the movie "Hangover". Hilarious!!!
Dinner consisted of grilled rib eye, which Garland said his tasted like freezer burn... baked potato and salad. No dessert???
After dinner we watched "Zombie Land". It was ok, slow on the start..would not recommend. Fell asleep a couple times with this one.
Sunday morning was cool but clear. Emma & I were up early, no surprise! Went for a brief potty walk, (for Emma not me). Came back fixed coffee and started working on this blog. Good breakfast, as you can see.
After breakfast, the three of us went out for one last geocache trek..we went back along "Dogwood Trail". Found the cache with some difficulty, as Garland copied down the wrong coordinates. I tried to tell him that they do not place the cache so far from the trail, but does he listen? Luckily for us, I had taken a picture of the coordinates that were posted on the outside board near the office. Who takes pictures of that? Just zoomed in and voila, correct numbers!!!
Nothing interesting in that cache. It was time to head back to camp to start packing up.

Twin Lakes Campground, Green Bay, Virginia March 4-7, 2010-03-07 2nd trip with the Surveyor Camper Garland arrived at Twin Lakes evening of March 4 to set up. He had a microwave dinner which he can not get at home, since we do not have a microwave. The outside water hose was frozen in the morning, so he couldn’t take a shower…no big deal, it is camping! After work on Friday, we (Garland, I and Emma, our Australian Shepherd) headed up to the campground. We arrived around 7:45 pm. We were the only campers there. Still very early in the season! Garland filled the camper water tanks incase the hose froze again. We have some kind of heater system under the camper to keep those tanks from freezing, (Artic Package). I had made corned beef & cabbage on Thursday at home, so I brought the leftovers for our dinner Friday, heated it up in the trusty electric frying pan. My expert husband built a fire in the fire pit too. Emma has to stay tied when outside or on a leash. Not her favorite, since at home she has free range of the 16 acres. But I think she knows it is a temporary situation and we do let her off for some playtime if no one else is around. We watched the movie, 2012 Friday night. It was about the total destruction of the earth due to core collapse and only a bunch of people gets to survive due to some lottery or something. A typical end of world movie. The bad guys get it & most of good guys live. I actually stayed awake for the whole movie. Emma woke me around 5:30 am (which is my normal weekday arising time), she wanted to go out and pee. I tried to go back to sleep, but finally got up around 6:30 am, made a cup of coffee in my new 1 cup Keurig coffee maker that Garland gave me this past Christmas. I tried the K-cup flavor, Newman’s Own Extra Bold.. too strong for me. Then I knit a little on a scarf, took Emma out for a quick trip around the campsite area to pee again. Garland was sleeping all this time. Then around 7:30 I got dressed, no shower, but hey this is camping right, took Emma for a longer walk down by the Goodwin Lake where she pooped-good dog, had my plastic bag to pick up-good Mom! While walking back Emma spotted a Red headed woodpecker in a pine tree.. I need to bring my camera on our next walk about.. About 8:30, Garland still asleep, Emma tied outside watching squirrels. I started breakfast, our camping ritual consists of hash browns, bacon & eggs. Cooked of course in the trusty electric fry pan! Also some grapes & cut up cantaloupe. Garland finally up around 8:40 am, had a cup of coffee then he went off to bathhouse to shower. He came back and said he dropped his underwear on the wet floor, so he went commando! After breakfast we headed out to the beach at the Goodwin Lake. There are two lakes here, hense the name Twin Lakes. The campsites are situated near Goodwin Lake, the smaller of the two. It has a beach, playground, picnic area, volleyball, horseshoes and nice little swimming area. Garland took his metal detector down on the lake beach and Emma & I walked around the lake on the Goodwin Trail. It is a 1.5 mile hike. I had my camera with me this time and was able to get some pictures. Saw 3 turtles sunning on dead tree limbs in the water. Garland found 14 cents, a rusty hoop earring, a beer tab and a rusty nut. Cost $10 for the permit to use the metal detector here, so I guess it only cost $9.86. Walking back from our nice hike we were had 3 surprise visitors, Dawn, Lauren & Oscar!
They were heading down to Halifax to visit the family. David is home for a few days before he leaves on his deployment to Iraq. They stayed for about a ½ hour. Lunch consisted of roast beef & swiss cheese on hearty white bread with mayo & horseradish, pickle on the side. Garland drove to town to get ketchup and cheese, brought a lottery scratch ticket for $10.00. Won $20.00! So this paid for the metal detector permit & the cost of the lottery ticket, so now he is up 14 cents! Saturday afternoon we went geocaching down towards the larger lake along Between the Lakes trail.
